Engagement + Bridal

No Longer Two

Hey there friends! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ
It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged and I’ve missed it! But I’m cutting myself some slack because I was pretty busy, ya know with the whole getting married thing. πŸ˜‰ It’s been a crazy few weeks of getting married, honeymooning (while super sick if you saw my instagram post,) traveling back, and settling back into work schedules as I continued to move the rest of my stuff over to the house. But excuses excuses, I’m finally ready to do a little recap of the day and share some of our favorite photos, courtesy of the incredibly talented Michael Rizza Photography! Be forewarned, this is a long post since there were so many photos we loved!

It was such a beautiful day, for starters! Very windy as you can see from some of the pictures (note the dress hanging from my veil upon my entrance πŸ˜‚), but not a cloud in the sky and the perfect temperature! I had a really relaxing morning getting my pedicure at the resort spa and making sure I coordinated with Katelyn (my sister and matron of honor) and Rick (Katelyn’s husband, Derick’s brother and best man #twobridesfortwobrothers) whenever I needed to leave the room for food so as not to run into Derick! I gave my bridesmaids and my mom and mother in law their getting ready robes (which I purchased from the Etsy shop Monorobes, which I highly recommend) and we got ready in two of our groups rooms next to each other before pictures. Everything was pretty calm for me and I really wasn’t having any crazy emotions or anything until Derick and I exchanged the letters around the balcony door, that’s when I was like “Oh no, here come the tears!”  His letter was so sweet and it really made the reality of us getting married set in. I definitely didn’t expect to cry, crying just because you were happy was kind of a foreign concept to me, but boy did I experience it that day! We were both so emotional throughout the whole ceremony, and it was just so beautiful to get married in front of God and both of our families while looking out at the ocean, it was everything we could’ve dreamed of. Our priest that we brought with us was our retired pastor from our church, and it was such an honor to have him there and have one of his famous “singing homilies” for the wedding Mass. The best way I could describe getting married to Derick was how I felt when I shared my first kiss with him (he was my first kiss ever way back in the day πŸ˜‰), when we told each other we loved each other for the first time, and when I said yes to his proposal. It was like time slowed and my head went foggy, but at the same time fireworks were going off in my heart and I was focused only on Derick. I know those two feelings seem to contradict each other, but every important moment I’ve ever had with him I’ve always had that sensation that told me the moment was a special one.

I had been dreaming of the moment where we’d share our first dance on the beach since we got engaged, and it did not disappoint. Dancing to “Mean to Me” by Billy Currington with the ocean breeze coming in is a moment that I will not soon forget. The reception was so much fun and the resort, The Gran Caribe, really outdid itself with the set up, and even did some complimentary fireworks and fun props for us to dance with! We had some really beautiful speeches from our best man, matron of honor, and other family members that night, but my favorite part was probably Derick’s little brother Joey (who is very shy when it comes to public speaking) getting up in front of everyone and giving a little speech ending with him saying “…everybody raise a glass for the bride…and the broom!” πŸ˜‚β€

Well, congratulations if you made it this far! What’s crazy is that this is just scratching the surface of all of the photos we got, I was really torn up trying to choose “just a few” for this post! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ Our wedding album is gonna be a large one that’s for sure! All in all our wedding day was everything we could’ve dreamed of and more, we are still pinching ourselves that that was our wedding! I’ll possibly do a little recap of the few things we got to do on our honeymoon soon and I’ll definitely be sharing a post with some tips for planning a destination wedding soon, so let me know if that would be something that y’all would be interested in and stay tuned. ☺

Hope you all have a great start to your week,

Konnor with a K
